D.A.V. SR. SEC. PUBLIC SCHOOL Sunam enjoys a prestigious place among the other schools in the region. Also the only one school in 20 kilometers, which is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi. It has been progressing by leaps and bounds, achieving excellence in academics, games and sports , co-curricular activities and many other activities .

Established in 1975 and presently located on Nilowal Road, Near Shaheed Udham Singh College, Sunam about 2 kms from the Railway Station / Bus Stand of Sunam.

MANAGEMENT

D. A. V. PUBLIC SCHOOL, SUNAM is managed by The Educational Trust Regd. Sunam-148028 which is a local body of members who came together for the development of the region in the file of education. It is a non-government and non- profit making body.

BUILDING AND AMENITIES

It has a beautiful building amidst the green and clean surroundings. It has three sections each in pre-primary and primary wings , two sections each in secondary wings. There are 35 spacious ,airy and well lighted class rooms , Science labs , a Computer lab and a well set Library , one Music room ,a Sports and Art & Craft room.

Attempts are being made to provide all basic amenities to all the students . Pure water is available at the end of different approachable distance, there are two tabs of fresh water and two tabs for the cold water from the big electric cooler, new fans and a diesel generator have been fitted in the School for the above purpose. It has very well maintained garden and lawn with plenty of trees and ornamental plants . Every year saplings are planted to add to the beauty of the school.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

D.A.V. Public School, Sunam endeavours to provide 1st rate, quality education through English medium in Indian culture & tradition. The western education in traditional public schools turns the pupils snobs and renders them aliens in their own homes.

COMPUTER LITERACY

The use of computers is becoming increasingly popular in all works of life. Keeping in view the changing face of times, computer is given due importance. To equip our pupils with the latest wonder of science and technology. For this , a well established computer lab is available in the school. Computer education is imparted to the students from class 1st onwards . Computer is being used as an aid to study as well as a subject . Most of the official work is also done with the aid of computers.. Under the guidance of computer teacher , the students are giving very good results bin the computer education.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Physical fitness of the students are being looked after in the school very effectively. There are well maintained spacious play grounds for various games. All facilities are available for improving the physical fitness of the students. Ample opportunities are provided for participating in sports and athletics. Well qualified, trained and experienced teachers are available for games and sports. There is a proper fixed periods given to physical education in the time table of all the classes .

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITES

Keeping in view the all round development of the children , adequate co-curricular activities are organized in the school.. Students are provided opportunities that promote social, emotional cultural ,mental and physical growth . Various activities in the school are organized during the session to inculcate the students the qualities of good character , deep sense of self discipline , patriotism and a spirit of self-confidence. It is compulsory for all the students to participate in various Co-curricular activities . Inter-House Competitions are held amongst the students regularly on Saturdays to promote Co-curricular activities.
